Finmeccanica and Russian Technologies State Corporation today signed in Rome an Agreement of Intent with a view of establishing a joint venture for complex security systems production. The agreement was signed by Pier Francesco Guarguaglini, Chairman and CEO of Finmeccanica and Sergey Viktorovich Chemezov, General Director of Russian Technologies State Corporation, at the Italian-Russian summit meeting in the presence of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

ANSALDOBREDA AND BOMBARDIER TOGETHER IN THE BID FOR NEW HIGH-SPEED TRAINS
The super-fast, eco-friendly train that is to take part to the tender announced by Trenitalia will be built entirely by AnsaldoBreda (Finmeccanica Group) and Bombardier. The two companies were invited to bid for the tender, which is for 50 high-speed trains. The new train will travel at more than 300 km/h and will consume up to 50% less fuel than the high-speed trains currently in service, thanks to new environmentally-friendly technology.

AgustaWestland North America Awarded U.S. Navy Contract
AgustaWestland North America (AWNA) is pleased to announce that it was recently awarded a $17.35M U.S. Navy contract to provide depot level maintenance on three Egyptian Mk-2 variant H-3 helicopters. The contract provides full funding for this effort, which began in November 2008, and calls for complete refurbishment of the aircraft structure and all aircraft components. AWNA will also complete all safety checks to ensure the aircraft are flight ready.

The agreement includes the possibility of setting up technological centres of excellence.

SELEX Galileo increases its presence in the US Space market
SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is a world leader in attitude sensors and has supplied these for use in hundreds of missions without a single failure in orbit. That is why NASA chose A-STR for the successful LCROSS mission aimed at determining if ice crystals are present on the Moon. LCROSS is the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensor Satellite with a mission to confirm the presence or absence of water ice in a permanently shadowed crater at the Moon’s South Pole.

DRS Technologies awarded 1.9 billion dollar contract by the U.S. Army for the
DRS Technologies Inc., a Finmeccanica [FNC IM; SIFI.MI] company, has been chosen together with another supplier for a 1.9 billion dollar contract to supply infrared technology Driver’s Vision Enhancers (DVEs). The contract, awarded by the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM) covers orders from the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Special Operations Command.

Ansaldo STS USA (ASTS USA) has penned a $13 million (USD) subcontract agreement with Wellington Power Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA, for the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s (PAAC) North Shore Connector project to extend the light rail system 1.2 miles.
